Did I make you look with that clickbaity title? My apologies, but I think that I have a hack that will make the click worth it. Obviously, the best way to eat strawberries is when they are ripe and freshly picked from the garden, so the title of this article really should have been “The Second Best Way to Eat Strawberries.”
But, for those of us buying grocery store strawberries, I just want to say one word to you. Just one word. Are you listening?
Microwaving.
Yes, microwaving. First, wash your strawberries and put them on a microwave safe plate and then nuke them for 15-25 seconds depending on the strength of your microwave. You will have to experiment with the timing to get the strawberries just right. I would recommend starting with a shorter amount of time and working up. You definitely don’t want to cook the strawberries. Trust me, you will know when you hit the Goldilocks temperature.
When you taste the juicy, melt in your mouth deliciousness of a perfectly microwaved strawberry it’s almost as if you have re-created the quintessentially ripe, just picked taste from the field. So, if you don’t have room for a berry patch in your garden or if you want that fresh picked strawberry taste in the dead of winter, give microwaving a try.
Bon appetit!
